Are you tuned in to yourself?

So much of our living goes on in auto-pilot mode and we can easily just go through the motions.  Women are super expert at this!  Are you?

How tuned-in and aware of yourself are you in your life?  How present are you in most moments?

Do you feel like you can show up as you are?  Or are you self-censoring? Feeling anxious about the future or guilty about the past?  Deferring to others?  Fighting with shame?

Taking a few minutes to tune in and scan your body, mind, and heart will give you an opportunity to become aware of any ways you may be preoccupied, detached, or checked out from the present moment.   

 Start with your 5 senses

Start with your 5 senses and then work inward from there.  What else do you feel in your body? How is your breathing? Any emotion you notice?  What us your body wanting to do? ….keep working inward

  • Starting with tuning into your 5 senses gives you a concrete way to start moving inward. Notice and name them. Sight – Smell – Taste – Touch – Sound (Just tune in)

  • Keep breathing.

  • Then take that awareness deeper by noticing what you’re feeling both physically and emotionally. What are you observing? Any thoughts? Emotions rising up? How's your breath?

If you determine there's something you need, take care of yourself and make sure you meet that need! This is the best way to maintain self- awareness and trust in yourself that you can re-align and thrive in your growth.

Give yourself a few of these scans throughout the day and you will notice you’re able to be more present and authentic more of the time.  

If you discover anxiety, shame, or self-censoring getting in the way of being present, you have an opportunity to make some choices about how to take care of yourself in the moment.  

You are empowered to find your inner calm, grow into your confidence, and allow deeper connection in your relationships. 

Don't worry if you find you are running into blocks to being present more often than not.  This is workable, and becoming aware is your first step. Sometimes you need space and time.  Sometimes, however, you need to get out of your own way.

After all, self-awareness is the most valuable tool you have!
